Ohmmeters- Resistance Testers

An ohmmeter is an electrical device used to determine the resistance against a current flowing through an electrical component. This measurement is done by applying a voltage through the material and determining what current the resistance allowed through; a simple concept that was made more accurate through the use of Kelvin measurements, also called 4 terminal testing. This method applies a voltage through two of the terminals and uses the remaining two to measure the resulting current. Kelvin clips are included with many of the ohmmeters for highly accurate measurements.

Ohmmeters are used for circuit board design and calibration as well as repair of electrical systems. When designing an electrical system resistance must be determined to know the exact voltage needed for efficient functioning.
