About Coconut Coir
Coconut Coir is the coarse fibers and spongy pith (lignin) material that make up the husk of the coconut fruit. To make the Coir Discs the husk is immersed in water for 6 weeks, after which the fiber is extracted mechanically. The pith is left behind and stored in heaps to age. Coconut coir is dehydrated and compressed into a compact form for easy handling.
