Bio/Organics Endomycorrhizal (1.5 Lb)

Price per Unit (piece): $49.99

Bio/Organics Endomycorrhizal Inoculant Micronized (1.5 Lb)

bio-organics_endomycorrhizals.jpg Contains 8 proven types of beneficial fungi in a micronized mineral carrier. With a minimum 50 whole spores per cubic centimeter.

  • Glomus brasilianum,
  • G. clarum,
  • G. deserticola,
  • G. etunicatum,
  • G. intraradices,
  • G. monosporus,
  • G. mosseae,
  • Gigaspora margarita and others.

The species in this mix benefit nearly all food crops - grapes, citrus, fruits, nuts, berries, grains, beans, and most vegetables. (This fine powder replaces our previous granular product, BioBlend BASIC.)

omri_white.gifOnce in contact with the host plant, the fungus spreads throughout the root system and begins searching the surrounding soil for nutrients to bring to its host plant.

Mycorrhizae promote plant vigor, add disease resistance, and can increase yields while improving soil for future crops. As a rule, fertilizer inputs can be substantially reduced for mycorrhizal plants.

Most landscape and restoration plants use one or more of the species in this powdered blend.

The main observed benefits are improved survival and growth rates, greater tolerance of problem soils, and a reduced need for water & fertilizer.

Sprinkle inoculant on roots of transplants, dust on seeds, or mix into water and apply as a soil drench to new plantings. For existing plants, these superior species are best introduced by inoculating roots of cover crops.

Studies have documented good effects on turf grass (including golf greens), ornamentals in poor urban soils, freeway and site restoration projects, plus flowerbeds. The powdered inoculant can be applied as a dust, mixed into water and applied as a drench, or injected to root zones.

Application Rates and Procedures

Transplanted Trees, Vines and Shrubs: sprinkle 1/4 tablespoon of micronized inoculant directly on damp roots or rootballs immediately before planting or scatter inoculant in planting holes. 3 lbs of inoculant will treat at least 400 typical-size transplants.

Small Transplants and Seeds: Sprinkle dry inoculant directly on root balls of melons, tomatoes, peppers, etc. at a minimum rate of 1/4 teaspoon per plant. Dust dry inoculant on seeds or tubers. Seeds may need to be very slightly dampened. A 3-lb. jar of inoculant will treat over 1500 plants, or up to three acres of seeded land.

Seedling Trays & Potted Plants: Mix inoculant into water and drench root zone soil. Plants potted in heavy soil may need holes probed to avoid surface sieving of spores. A 3-lb jar treats up to 500 transplants (grapes, fruit trees, roses, etc.), or 5000 small plants (strawberries, bedding flowers, etc.), or 2.5 acres (1 hectare) of closely planted seeds.

The great majority of deciduous trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses associate with the Endomycorrhizal-type species in our product. However, pines, oaks and a few other trees associate with Ectomycorrhizae. Landscapers may prefer the Endo/Ecto blend.

For maximum benefits, the use of lower analysis gradual-release fertilizers is recommended. Fast-acting fertilizers (especially P) can harm mycorrhizal fungi. Avoid use of soil-drench or systemic fungicides, although contact-type fungicides are generally not harmful. Insecticides and herbicides that do not kill the host plant are generally not harmful.
