Atago PAL-3 Full Range Refractometer (0-93 Brix)

A refractometer is widely used in the food production industry and is becoming increasingly popular in the beer making process as it provides a quick and easy way to determine the specific gravity before and after the fermentation process. They are useful in maple syrup, honey and sugar production for the quick brix, or sugar content, reading.

Another use is for measurement of industrial cutting oils and liquids. Refractometers have evolved from a simple analog prism to a highly accurate electronic device capable of wide scales of the refractive index, brix or specific gravity. Conversion of one measurement scale to another is a simple calculation of a conversion factor.

This refractometer is designed to test 0 to 93% Brix, which means it will test essentially any sample. With the ability to test hot samples and featuring automatic temperature compensation this refractometer can accurately test samples in a wider temperature range than traditional refractometers. Made with a water and dust resistant design it can be rinsed with water and is designed to work in the field.
