This refractometer was designed specifically for breweries as it has a range measured in degrees Plato. Great for sweet worts and making beer, wine and other alcohols.

Atago PAL-Plato Digital Beer Wine Refractometer (0-30 Plato)

A refractometer is widely used in the food production industry and is becoming increasingly popular in the beer making process as it provides a quick and easy way to determine the specific gravity before and after the fermentation process. They are useful in maple syrup, honey and sugar production for the quick brix, or sugar content, reading.

Another use is for measurement of industrial cutting oils and liquids. Refractometers have evolved from a simple analog prism to a highly accurate electronic device capable of wide scales of the refractive index, brix or specific gravity. Conversion of one measurement scale to another is a simple calculation of a conversion factor.

This refractometer features a scale in degrees Plato, which is similar to Brix in its employment but is more geared towards specific gravity of sweet worts used to make beer, wine and other alcohols. Made especially for breweries, this instrument only takes a few drops of the sample to give a highly accurate test. Featuring a simple operation procedure with only 2 buttons and no moving parts.
