The ability to test the pH when farming and gardening and even a huge range of other activities can be of greatest importance to you.
Specifically soil pH is very important because it has such a strong influence on how well your crops will grow. The balance of Acid forming nutrients and Alkaline forming nutrients will influence root development, microbial activity, fungi, symbiotic nitrogen fixation by legumes and the availability of nutrients. By using our meters you can monitor the pH levels to ensure an ideal pH is maintained and also catch any problems early that would otherwise devastate your crops if you were not able to detect and correct the problem.
Ideal soil pH may vary depending on what you are growing ,but generally a range between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal as it is at this level that most beneficial bacteria in the soil can thrive and release valuable nutrients to your crops.
All of our pH testers feature 2-point calibration for better accuracy throughout the entire pH scale. You will need to use both pH 7.01, pH 4.01 calibration solutions to get this accuracy.
Other uses of a pH meter in agriculture may include:
- Measuring plant leaf sap pH
- Measuring foliar and hydroponic fertilizers
- Measuring pH of rain and irrigation water
- Testing pH of crop juices
