LaMotte Acidity Test Kit – 7182
LaMotte Acidity Test Kit – 7182
Contents:
- Sodium Hydroxide, 2.4N – 30mL
- Phenolphthalein Indicator, 0.5% - 15mL
- Pipet, 0.5mL, plastic
- Test tube, 5-10-25mL, plastic with cap
This test kit uses the phenolphthalein endpoint to determine hydrochloric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids. It is an economical way to test acidity with a range of 1 drop = 0.1 or 1.0% (as the particular acid). It has 50 tests at 10% (2) and comes with everything needed to test.
Test Procedure: (1 drop = 0.1%)
1. Fill test tube (0715) to 5mL line with sample.
2. Add one drop of *Phenolphthalein Indicator, 0.5% (2258). Mix.
3. While gently swirling tube, add *Sodium Hydroxide, 2.4N (5648) one drop at a time until solution turns pink. Count the number of drops added. Hold bottle vertically.
4. Multiply the number of drops used in Step 3 by 0.1. Record as % Phosphoric Acid or Sulfuric Acid. To receive result as % hydrochloric acid, multiply number of drops used in Step 3 by 0.076. Record as % Hydrochloric Acid.
Test Procedure: (1 drop = 1%)
1. Use 0.5 mL pipet (0353) to add 0.5 mL of sample to test tube (0715).
2. Dilute to 5 mL line with tap water.
3. Add one drop of *Phenolphthalein Indicator, 0.5% (2258). Mix.
4. While gently swirling tube, add *Sodium Hydroxide, 2.4N (5648) one drop at a time until solution turns pink. Count the number of drops added. Hold bottle vertically.
5. Multiply the number of drops used in Step 4 by 1. Record as % Phosphoric Acid or Sulfuric Acid. To receive result as % hydrochloric acid, multiply number of drops used in Step 3 by 0.76. Record as % Hydrochloric Acid.
Note: Minimum order quantity of 2 kits.
