A stroboscope is useful in analyzing rotating objects through the use of a strobe light set at a certain frequency. Matching the timing of the strobe to the rotation of a spinning object, or to some fraction of the timing, will cause the rotating object to appear motionless. This is useful for aligning more than one rotation together and is also used for ignition timing for internal combustion engines. This is a great way to measure the rpm of a moving object without stopping it to attach tape or by making contact of a potentially dangerous spinning object.

This meter features the ability to simply point and synchronize. When you see a static picture of the rotating object appear then the flashes per minute is exactly the same as the rotations per minute.
